Taipei Medical University (TMU) and Compal Electronics officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today (4th) to jointly promote smart healthcare innovation. Centered on combining TMU's TAIP-X medical artificial intelligence platform with Compal’s POLYMEDX smart robots and system integration capabilities, the two parties will implement and validate solutions across various clinical settings—including emergency rooms, operating theaters, wards, and hospital logistics. This partnership aims to establish a human-machine collaboration model for smart healthcare, accelerating workflow optimization and precision decision-making.
Professor Mai-Szu Wu, President of Taipei Medical University, stated: "TMU has long been deeply committed to the development of smart healthcare. We possess complete clinical settings and high-quality, real-world data. Through our biomedical engineering integration mechanism, we continuously drive the clinical application and validation of AI technology. This collaboration with Compal deeply integrates our TAIP-X medical AI with their POLYMEDX smart robot platform. Testing these across multiple clinical areas will not only effectively improve medical quality and efficiency, but also offers an opportunity to build a globally competitive demonstration model for smart hospitals."
Jerry Chen, Senior Vice President of Compal Electronics, noted: "Compal possesses strong capabilities in medical device design and manufacturing, smart robot development, and system integration, backed by a complete global supply chain and commercialization experience. Partnering with TMU will accelerate the transition of smart healthcare solutions from technical development to clinical implementation. Continuous optimization of products and services through multi-setting validation will drive the growth of the smart healthcare industry."
The TMU healthcare system encompasses comprehensive clinical settings ranging from emergency rooms, operating theaters, and wards to long-term care. It brings together internationally influential Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). Through the TMU Biodesign innovation process, the university systematically identifies clinical needs and translates them into concrete solutions, gaining extensive experience in defining clinical problems, evaluating technology implementation, and validating products. Meanwhile, TMU's high-quality real-world data resources and its clinical-needs-driven product development capabilities effectively support AI model creation and deployment across multiple settings.
Compal Electronics holds deep expertise in smart robotics, system integration, and mass manufacturing, alongside global market expansion advantages. Through the integration of the TAIP-X and POLYMEDX platforms, both parties will advance applications such as AI Decision Support for Emergency Departments (AIDE), medical service robots, surgical instrument tracking, and smart medicine cabinets. This will gradually achieve hospital workflow automation, build human-machine collaborative systems, and accelerate the commercialization and international export of smart healthcare solutions.
